The Arabian Racing Cup suspends operations
July 15, 2010
|
Dear Nominator:
Since 1983, the Arabian Racing Cup (ARC) has strived to be the best breeders’ incentive program in the Arabian racing industry. But like so many organizations and businesses, it has struggled in recent years. The ARC is a victim of a brutal economy that has forced many breeders either out of business completely or to drastically reduce the number of horses they breed each year. The Arabian Horse Association has seen a significant decrease in membership and number of horses registered, which obviously means a smaller pool of horses eligible to be nominated to the Arabian Cup program. And because of the continually declining number of nominations, the ARC is forced to suspend both accepting nominations and paying out to nominated runners. This includes paying both the bonus purse money added to stakes races and nominator payouts.
For anyone who has paid into the program from January 1, 2010 through today, you will receive a refund check under separate cover. Only money paid in during this time period is eligible for a refund.
The ARC also handles the Darley awards. We are currently working on a viable plan to host the Darley awards ceremony in 2011. Details will be announced as they are available.
All of the stewards are very disappointed that the program has reached this state, but they are hopeful that once the economy improves and breeding picks up again that the ARC program will return in some format. All of the stewards would like to thank everyone for their participation in the ARC program over the years.
Sincerely,
Ted Wright

ARC Horses receive Top National Honors
ARC horses seem to find the richest victories, like the superb bay stallion DA Adios who passed the $600,000 mark in career earnings. (See Cup-sired DA Adios honored at the top of our pages- he's the horse in the red blinkers).
TH Richie, photo below left, is the stallion who fascinated the crowds as he won race after race and captured the Arabian Triple Crown. TH Richie proudly carries title as an ARC runner and now an ARC sire. Also an ARC runner is the phenomenal filly Cath, photo below right. Cath was named Champion 3 year old filly in the U.S. and was undefeated. And again, she was named a Darley Champion in her 4 year old year. See the Darley Report here .
