Winning Breeder: ALAN KIRSHNER OR DEBORAH MIHALOFF
Winning Owner: Bill Waldron
Winning Trainer: Bill Waldron

Our Machine has developed over the season into an incredibly handsome chestnut colt. Claimed earlier this year by Bill Waldron, he has improved dramatically and was the easy favorite in the $30,000 Arabian Cup Juvenile (G1).

In typical Waldron-horse style, Our Machine jumped out of the gate on top, but was flanked by Frysk Me Now and Faraac, who had to be steadied four wide going into the first turn. It was a tightly bunched group for the first half mile with Our Machine maintaining his short lead over Frysk Me Now, Faraac, Case Dismissed and Stoicc. Coming into the stretch, Gabriel Saez had Our Machine clear, but behind him Case Dismissed got boxed in on the rail with nowhere to go. Stoicc had moved up to be part of the bunch along with Frysk Me Now and Intryge. In deep stretch Our Machine drove clear as the winner, but it would take a photo to see that Stoicc, owned by Leah Killingsworth Bates, just got his nose in front of Dianne Waldron’s Intryge. Our Machine’s time for the mile was 1:54.31.

Bred in Virginia by Alan Kirshner and Deborah Mihaloff, Our Machine closed out his season with 5 wins (3 stakes) out of 7 starts with earnings of over $59,000. From the first crop of Nivour De Cardonne, who stands at their Cre Run Farm, Our Machine is out of Dreams R Forever, an unraced daughter of MHF Eclipse. This is her second foal and first to race.

When the Gladys Brown Edwards Arabian Cup (G1) did not fill, Bill Waldron moved Cath into the $50,000 Arabian Cup Classic (G1) thus pitting her against his other champion Aim South. With both horses established front-runners, who would go to the lead and would they get into a speed dual in a 1 ¼ mile race? Guy Neivens’s Thoroughbred, who preferred longer distances, looked like the only one who might be able to topple the powerful entry.

Aim South broke sharply and got in front of Cath, who was followed closely by Geronimo HF and Thoroughbred. Jockey Gabriel Saez allowed Aim South to race comfortably on the front end without setting quick fractions. Cath was content to stay in second with Thoroughbred right at her throat. Coming into the stretch, Aim South opened up to a three length lead. Cath’s speedy sprint race two weeks earlier may have taken its toll as she began to tire. Thoroughbred was willingly closing the gap on Aim South, but he simply did not have enough to get there. Aim South won in a time of 2:21.83 over Thoroughbred, who was over 17 lengths in front of Cath. Sey Spottsproof, Geronimo HF, Annswer To Prayer and Cromwell completed the field.

With back-to-back Cup wins, Aim South (Burning Sand – SS Doctor Sam, by Sam Tiki) improved his lifetime record to 13 wins in 37 starts.

Arabian Cup Championship Juvenile Filles S. - Grade: 1 - STARS THE LIMIT

11th race - Delaware Park - November 03, 2007
Off at: 5:16 Race Type: Stakes
Age Restriction: Three Year Old
Sex Restriction: Fillies
Value of Race: $30,300
Distance: One Mile
Surface Type: Dirt
Track Condition: Fast
Winning Time: 1:53.78
Pgm Horse Jockey
6 STARS THE LIMIT Ricardo Chiappe
1 DIXIE DANCE Gabriel Saez
8 TOPPOFTHECLASS Eric S. Valles
Also ran: 2 - TRI SPRING PROOF , 1A - SHALL WE DANCE BW , 5 - FALL COLOURS , 3 - STORM SURGE , 7 - OTYLIA
Scratched horses: DC WILLFUL SPIRIT
Winning Breeder: TOWN AND COUNTRY FARMS CORP
Winning Owner: Coast To Coast Racing Lessee
Winning Trainer: Loren Nichols

Dixie Dance has been the dominant 3-year-old filly at Delaware Park, and she looked to top off her season with a win in the Arabian Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) on November 3, 2007. However, there were seven other fillies that took a shot at her in the one mile race.

Dixie Dance broke on top, but was pressed early by Storm Surge, Stars The Limit and Toppoftheclass. Apparently asserting her authority, Dixie Dance opened up a wide lead through the turn and into the stretch. Storm Surge tired from her early efforts, but Coast To Coast Racing’s Stars The Limit was trying to close the gap. Coming down the stretch, Dixie Dance still looked like the winner, but Stars The Limit, coming up the rail, would not give up. As Dixie Dance drifted out, she could not hold off Ricardo Chiappe and Stars The Limit who determinedly drove past Dixie Dance to get clear by 2 lengths. Dixie Dance was well in front of the third place finisher Toppoftheclass, owned by Sandra Mihaloff. They were followed across the line by Tri Spring Proof, Shall We Dance BW, Fall Colours, Storm Surge and Otylia. The final time was 1:53.78.

Stars The Limit was bred in Florida by Town and Country Farms. She is the only starter from her sire No Limite’s first crop of two foals. Originally imported from France, No Limite raced for several years in California winning 5 races from 13 starts. The dam of Stars The Limit, RW Norwegian Star, is an unraced Wiking daughter who has also produced stakes-placed winner Nordik Star, earner over $127,000 and minor stakes winner Starmachie. Stars The Limit only had a maiden win from her 5 starts, and her share of the $30,000 purse brings her career earnings to $26,814.

Arabian Cup Championship Sprint S. - Grade: 2 - AIM SOUTH

8th race - Delaware Park - October 14, 2007
Off at: 3:54 Race Type: Stakes
Age Restriction: Three Year Old and Upward
Value of Race: $40,300
Distance: Six Furlongs
Surface Type: Dirt
Track Condition: Fast
Winning Time: 1:17.86
Pgm Horse Jockey
6 AIM SOUTH Gabriel Saez
8 THOROUGHBRED William J. Hollick
7 FRYNGE BENEFIT Esteban E. Unsihuay
Also ran: 3 - SEY SPOTTSPROOF , 2 - GERONIMO HF , 4 - DOCTOR D , 5 - THE LAST DANSE , 1 - BUSH HOG
Winning Breeder: BILL WALDRON
Winning Owner: Bill Waldron
Winning Trainer: Bill Waldron

With one Sprint under his belt, owner/trainer Bill Waldron looked to add the Arabian Cup Sprint (G2) with the 6-year-old Aim South. Seven others, including Leah Killingsworth Bate’s Frynge Benefit and Guy Neivens’s Thoroughbred, looked to keep him out of the winner’s circle.

While Aim South got off to a quick lead, Thoroughbred broke awkwardly which landed him back in sixth. In the early going, Doctor D and The Last Danse both chased Aim South on the front end. After a half mile, Aim South already had 6 lengths on Frynge Benefit, who had made forward progress. Doctor D still held third, but The Last Danse was tiring. Through the stretch, it was not a matter of whom but by how much. Gabriel Saez rode out Aim South to win by almost 12 lengths over Thoroughbred, who made a good run in the stretch to be second. Frynge Benefit held on to third. Sey Spottsproof, Geronimo HF, Doctor D, The Last Danse and Bush Hog completed the field. Aim South’s time for the 6 furlongs was 1:17.86, only slightly slower than his stablemate ran the previous day.

Like Cath (who won the Cup Distaff the day before), Aim South is also by Burning Sand out of SS Doctor Sam, by Sam Tiki. He was also bred in Florida by the Waldrons.

Arabian Cup Distaff Sprint (Grade 2) - CATH

8th race - Delaware Park - October 13, 2007
Off at: 3:53 Race Type: Stakes
Age Restriction: Three Year Old and Upward
Sex Restriction: Fillies and Mares
Value of Race: $40,200
Distance: Six Furlongs
Surface Type: Dirt
Track Condition: Fast
Winning Time: 1:17.17

1 CATH Gabriel Saez
6 KITTILINA Ricardo Chiappe
4 WHOS YOUR DADDY Alvaro J. Torres
Also ran: 3 - CAVIYAR , 1A - DIXIES DELIGHT , 2 - LULU GAMBOO , 5 - KINZI KONG
Winning Breeder: BILL WALDRON
Winning Owner: Bill Waldron
Winning Trainer: Bill Waldron

Bill Waldron’s talented mare Cath, has developed into a strong, grey powerhouse and she looked every bit of it in the paddock prior to the $40,000 6 furlong Sprint. She went postward with her stablemate Dixies Delight, who has not been able to maintain her championship form this year.

Cath broke on top of the 7 horse field and cleared Whos Your Daddy by 1 ½ lengths, with Kittilina and Lulu Gamboo close back in third and fourth respectively. After an opening quarter in: 24.75 and opening half in: 50.21, Cath widened her lead coming into the stretch. Terry Andreasen’s Kittilina moved into second over Southern Arabian Racing’s Whos Your Daddy. In deep stretch, jockey Gabriel Saez asked Cath to accelerate again, and she responded to widen her lead to 14 ¼ lengths at the wire. Kittilina was easily second best by 5 lengths over Whos Your Daddy. Following them across the line were Caviyar, Dixies Delight, Lulu Gamboo and Kinzi Kong. The final time of 1:17.17 effectively equaled the track record of 1:17 set by Cath’s sire Burning Sand and Unchainedd Melody.

Cath was bred in Florida by her owners and is out of the ZT Ali Baba mare Halianna, a female family full of outstanding runners.
